We liked this leek and it did well in our outrageous 2012 summer even with temperatures soaring to 105 degrees. . Then we had temps of -20 F stored in our unheated greenhouse. Cultivation directions: Heirloom winter hardy leeks can have challenges with germinating. The changes in germination temperature can help them overcome dormancy. Sow inside10 weeks before transplant: for germination success try beginning cool then warm or vice versa..change in temperatures can help with good germination.
